They Grow so Fast

It seems like yesterday that we were bring Grant home from the hospital. But then I blinked and we were bringing Elizabeth home from the hospital. My how time flies. My mom always said "time flies when you are having fun" and "time flies the older you get" and I'm beginning to realize just how right she was/is. I just wish I could freeze a day so I could savor each and every thing that they do.

Just yesterday they were learning to walk...today we finished our last cheerleading and basketball game. They have both grown up so much. It really hit me last night at basketball practice. When it was finished, Grant came over and was looking through his pockets looking for something. I asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for a piece of paper. I didn't think much of it and we were walking out ot the car and I asked him if he found the piece of paper he was looking for. He said no. I asked him what was on it and he said "a girls phone number". WHAT???? You are 10 (going on 20) is what I was thinking. I tried to pick my jaw up off the ground and just started questioning a little. He is my little baby you know. Well, come to find out it is from a girl in his class and she wanted so help with a game. I'm like "ok, we'll look in the school directory when we get home and see if her number is in there". Well, while at home Grant was playing his Nintendo DS and was talking something about his Pal Chat. Chert came in later and asked if I knew of a "*****" (I won't mention her name for privacy) and I was like what??? Well, they had had tech day at his class and they could take their games and he and "*****" were now chatting through their DS's. Grant asked if he could have permission to call her sometime so we set up some boundaries.

I have decided to not talk about it right now, hoping that if I bury my head in the sand it will go away. But who knows...with as fast as time flies he'll probably be getting married tomorrow if I blink. I think I'll invest in some toothpicks to pry my eyelids open for now.

  1. OMG! Grant can't be getting girls #'s. That isn't right. It means that I'm getting OLD myself. I was a freshman in college when he was born. It does seem like yesterday. Dang, it seems like yesterday I was myself Grants age playing Army under Ashley's house and riding our bikes through the creek behind the elem school. *sigh* Oh man Oh man. Soon that girl will be Elizabeth, so watch out on that one.
